What the Amazon and Canada Have In Common

Neo-Scholastic literature

One of the major issues of the recent Amazon Synod was the shortage of clergy in the Amazon region.  I wrote a post on how this should be handled, but the final document didn’t include any of the stuff that I was proposing.  It’s a bit of a shame really.  However, this week I was browsing the website for my diocese and saw some alarming stuff.  I want to take this information and build on my previous priesthood shortage solutions.

Should Catholics Attend SSPX Chapels?

My local Byzantine Catholic Church

I try to avoid getting into traditionalist issues on this blog because they normally involve a lot of drama.  Should faithful Catholics attend SSPX chapels?  I will admit that I’ve been to the local SSPX chapel, though I can count the number of times on one hand.  I remember one time it was the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and my Church wasn’t having a mass and I really wanted to go so I went to the SSPX chapel.  I’ve also gone to masses offered by the Resistance which is a breakaway group from the SSPX because they thought they were too liberal.  I haven’t been to either in years.  I’ve never gone to a sedevacantist mass and I never will.

Debunking Spanish Inquisition Myths For Vocab Malone

Last night I happened to catch the end of a livestream by Vocab Malone.  It was on the Protestant reformation but he dabbled in the Inquisition as well.  I want to clear up some inquisition myths.  I love Vocab Malone’s work but I don’t think that he understands the Inquisition, particularly the Spanish Inquisition.  Here’s the story of the Spanish Inquisition.

We Need Allies

Today my country heads to the polls.  None of the parties represent Christian values so I’m going to be voting strategically.  Will we have a new Prime Minister?  I don’t know.  All I know is that it won’t be a great result.

What Evidence Would I Accept For the Injeel?

Jesus Christ

What evidence would I accept for the Injeel?  According to orthodox Islam, there was a document given to Jesus Christ called the Injeel.  The truth is that there is no Injeel.  The Quran assumes that the document with the Christians today is the one that was supposedly given to Jesus Christ.  Since this is an obvious impossibility and since the Injeel with the Christians contradicts Islam, this myth was born.

Interview With Erick Ybarra

I hope that all of my Canadian followers had lots of turkey on Monday as it was Canadian thanksgiving.  My family had our thanksgiving dinner on Sunday so on Monday I was free.  I did the three hour drive home and then got ready because I had an interview booked.  It was with Catholic apologist Erick Ybarra who blogs at erickybarra.org and is a co-host along with Michael Lofton on Reason and Theology.

Nasty Internet Stuff

St. Thomas More

I sometimes think that the internet brings out the worst in people.  Lately all over the internet and social media, I’ve been seeing a lot of nasty religious arguments.  I’m not against arguing at all as that is the goal of this blog.  I’m against being nasty, especially being nasty all the time.  I don’t want to name names or groups but here is my take on it.

Adnan Rashid and Paran

As I mentioned in my last post, Mecca is entirely absent from the Bible and it really bothers Muslim apologists.  There is not a single reference to it or Medina(Yathrib).  As I mentioned in my previous post, Adnan Rashid recently had a debate with Samuel Green about Muhammad in the Bible.  I pointed out in that post how Sela couldn’t be Medina.  I will now show why Paran can’t be Mecca as Rashid claims.
