Some Thoughts on the Riots

Back in 2006, I was a Western supremacist.  I believed that Western culture was superior to every other culture in the world.  Other countries needed to have democracy imposed on them, by force if necessary.

In 2006 Pope Benedict made the controversial Regensburg address where he quoted a Byzantine Emperor saying that Muhammad introduced violence into the Abrahamic tradition.  Well, there were riots all over the Muslim world because Muhammad had been insulted.

Now in 2020 we see riots all over the Western world about…well I’m still trying to figure out that one myself.  It started with a nasty cop killing a black man that had been apprehended.  This should have sparked local protests at the most.  The cop was charged with murder and will face trial.  Obviously it’s a very nasty situation and what was done to this man was evil.

So now Westerners are rioting over who knows what?  At least when the Muslims all over the world were rioting in 2006 it was because their religion had been insulted.  If Christians would riot because Jesus Christ had been insulted I’d be very impressed.  Now I wouldn’t be impressed if they burned down buildings that had nothing to do with the initial event.  I wouldn’t be too happy if they were looting department stores.  When I saw them empty out a Target I knew that this had nothing to do with George Floyd and was an insult to his memory.  It was just angry people wanting to cause chaos.  The best proof is that this happened all over America and the Western world.

So while I have long abandoned my Western supremacist views, I really stand vindicated.  These riots are pure stupidity.  The topic of systemic racism comes up.  I still don’t know what that is.  There are racist cops and maybe even a lot of them but I don’t see how this makes systemic racism?  Wouldn’t systemic racism mean that there are laws that discriminate against against black people for them being black?  That would seem like the only appropriate definition.  Regardless, that doesn’t exist.  It hasn’t existed in the West for a very long time.

Let me be finish by saying that these riots show what a joke the West really is.  I should also throw CHAZ into the mix.  You know, that autonomous zone in Seattle that’s been taken over by Black Lives Matter?  I won’t go into the details but it’s such a joke.  This whole thing makes me really ashamed to be a Westerner.  Not because we have systemic racism but because we have this insane stupidity.
