Attorney General Josh Shapiro Responded to Me About the 2 Indictments

For the last few days I’ve been commenting frequently on Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s Tweets.  I’m asking simply why there were only two indictments.  Something few in the media are actually saying.  They just scream “300 priests” when they’ve probably never even gone through the report.  I haven’t gone through the entire thing(it’s over 1300 pages!) but I’ve read large sections of it.  I’ve probably read half of it and I’ll need a very large coffee to read the other half.

As an apologist for the Catholic faith, I know that there are two Spanish Inquisitions.  There’s the “Spanish Inquisition” that most people believe in and is caricatured in Monty Python, then there is the Spanish Inquisition which is written about by competent historians such as Henry Kamen and Edward Peters.

Like the Spanish Inquisition, there are two Pennsylvania Grand Jury Reports.  As I’ve said, there are only two indictments.  In the above tweet Josh Shapiro mentioned the statute of limitations not being ideal.  Keep in mind that if these events happened, the victims had the same amount of time as any other citizen living in Pennsylvania.  One doesn’t need a grand jury report to take legal action if they’ve been sexually abused.  It should also be pointed out that many of these priests are dead and don’t have an opportunity to defend themselves against the allegations in the report.

Ironically the story was buried.  Only a few days after this report came out, Archbishop Vigano dropped his atomic bomb on the Vatican, showing that Pope Francis lifted restrictions of Ted McCarrick after Benedict had imposed them.  Vigano claims that Pope Francis knew all about McCarrick.  Many mainstream Catholics have called on the Pope to resign from the chair of Peter because of this.  I haven’t made that call, because I don’t feel that I have the right to do that as if he’s my local elected official.

Shapiro actually tried to revive the story but it didn’t work.  The media was talking about the Vigano letter.  Of course the media wasn’t saying it like it is.  The media portrayed it as Conservatives trying to oust the Pope.  Pope Francis adopted a policy of silence and the media seems to have adopted his strategy and has backed off.  It shows where their priorities are.

The media is outright dishonest with the Vigano letter.  They’ve done the exact same thing with the Pennsylvania grand jury report.  For fun I went over to Michael Coren’s Twitter page(I had to use a different browser since he’s blocked me) and didn’t find a thing about Vigano and the horrific cover up by Francis.  However, he certainly used the grand jury report to say that the Church is in need of reform.

So there are two grand jury reports.  The dishonest media and leftists will only report one.  In the case of the Vigano letter, little was ever said or done.  I can’t wait for the day when alternative media takes over.  It’s getting closer every day but still far off.

Now, many of my opponents will say that I don’t care about the victims.  I think that’s simply shameful.  I care about anyone who has been violated, especially by a person in whom they put their trust.  I also care about the rule of law.  I believe that people are innocent until proven guilty.  The media doesn’t apply that standard to any Catholic priests.  The only exception might be Pope Francis.

  1. The Francis-McCarrick-Vigano affair (or rather scandal) has gone very quite in so far as mainstream media, but many Catholics have not forgotten it and it will not go away soon. Expect more and more stonewalling by the Church authorities.

    • Yes, that’s very true, and I think a lot more information is going to come out on this and Vigano will be vindicated all the more.
