A few years ago, I watched this debate between David Wood and Anjem Choudary. The topic of the debate is: “Would Sharia Help the West?” Sadly, David Wood took the wrong approach. Attacking Sharia is good but then when he went about defending how things are in the West I shook my head.
As Christians, we need to realize that the West is not just non-Christian or post-Christian but anti-Christian. Whenever we dialogue with muslims and defend the West, we look like we don’t take our faith seriously.
One time, I heard a debate between a muslim from Pakistan and a feminist. The feminist said to him that a man could marry four women in his country. He responded by saying that a man could marry a man in your country. He certainly had a point. Polygamy is a sub-from of marriage but homosexual “marriage” is not a marriage at all.
I don’t expect anything better from a feminist but an apologist for the Christian faith should condemn the West. I would never engage in a debate called: “Would Sharia Help the West?” because I would have to defend the West, not just attack Sharia. We need to remember that we don’t have to agree with the government of our nation. Did everyone in the Soviet Union believe in communism? No!
Any Christian who has watched what has happened in the West in these last two years alone can’t help but notice the moral degradation that’s been going on. All one has to do is look at the transgendered agenda with these ridiculous bathroom bills. They put our women in danger and prolong sexual confusion in people. This of course is in addition to the other abominations that have happened prior to these two years.
I am now convinced that Western civilization cannot recover. It needs to be reduced to rubble then rebuilt on the foundation of Scripture and the teachings of the Saints. This may be disturbing for some people but sadly, its the only way out.
The next time a muslim says that the West is immoral, don’t give the standard response: “Then why do muslims want to move here?” It sounds like a good response but it will get you absolutely nowhere. Simply agree with the muslim. It’s nothing to be ashamed of because it’s the truth. He will probably even respect you for it and it could give you the opportunity to advance in dialogue.
Being for Christianity doesn’t correspond to being for the West. The West does not promote the social kingship of our Lord Jesus Christ so it cannot be Christian. It is anti-Christian since it strongly opposes the Kingship of Christ in both word and deed.
Many countries in Eastern Europe also feel the way muslims do. I recently talked to a girl from Ukraine and she expressed concern for her country because it keeps moving closer to Western standards whereas countries like Poland, Russia, and Georgia are distancing themselves from the West. In the case of Russia and Georgia they have taken steps to stifle the homosexual agenda. In Poland they are trying to ban abortion in every case. The Church in Poland is strongly behind this initiative.
There is hope for the future and as we Christians realize that Sharia is not that hope, we need to realize that the West isn’t either.
