It’s been about a month since the shooting at the Pittsburgh synagogue. After that happened a friend of mine on social media wrote a post and said that the biggest antisemitism is saying that we shouldn’t preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Jews. She said it in a very respectful way but that didn’t matter. Many Jews swarmed her page. The word antisemitic was thrown around multiple times. This one Jewess was viciously attacking me. Her arguments were so ridiculous that I just started calling her an antisemite because I simply stopped caring at that point.
The word antisemitism is not used to identify racists anymore. It’s used to shut down speech. It’s no different than Islamophobia or homophobia in that regard. If I as a Catholic critique any Jewish idea I’m an antisemite. If I say that Judaism isn’t the religion of the OT because of several obvious deficiencies I’m called an antisemite. However, if a Jew says that my faith is a form of idolatry then that’s perfectly okay. If I criticize Israeli policy I’m an antisemite. If I say that Bolshevism was a Jewish movement I’m an antisemite. It doesn’t matter how many statistics or facts I give.
There is this new definition of antisemitism floating around called the IHRA definition of antisemitism. Here it is:
“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”
This definition is so incredibly squishy and vague that basically anything a Jew doesn’t like from a goy can be antisemitic if he chooses it to be. Of course, more sober minded Jews know better but ones that have been brought up to hate Christianity, believe that Nazism is a Christian ideology, and believe that Jews have suffered for 2,000 years for not believing in Jesus(an absolute lie) will just throw the word around like a boomerang. From my experience, most Jews believe that Nazism was Catholic or Christian. I’m not joking. Of course if the Catholic Church wanted the Jews of Europe dead it had hundreds of years to make it happen, yet there were still many Jews in Europe before the war. Remember, 20th century Germany isn’t known for its religiosity.
As a Christian I condemn antisemitism. Every Christian worships a Jew. If we’re antisemites, why would we worship a Jew? It’s funny that people like Tovia Singer and other frauds like him will call us idolaters for worshiping Jesus but at the same time call us antisemites. Why would someone who hates Jews worship one? Because it’s not about Jews. The people who use this definition don’t care about facts. They care about power. It’s about their kind of Jews and the ideologies that they like. The people who use the IHRA definition of antisemitism don’t care about facts or dialogue. They care about asserting their authority. They don’t care about Chomsky, Finkelstein, the Satmar, the Neturei Karta or many others. I’ve even heard Jews call these people antisemites.
A Christian can’t be an antisemite. Of course I’m using the real definition of antisemitism here and not the fake IHRA definition which is meaningless and is a mockery of history. The word antisemitism was invented by Wilhelm Marr in the 19th century. If they can prove that he was thinking about the IHRA definition, then I’ll accept this definition. If not, don’t expect any respect or recognition from me.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
– Matthew 5:44
Hi Allan,
on this one I’d side more with E. Michael Jones than with you. I wouldn’t say that “Jesus was a Jew” because
1) The name “Jew” is etymologically related to the name of the Judah tribe, which is proof that it is not a name of the whole of the religion that Jesus practiced (and fulfilled).
2) In the Gospel of S. John, the word “Jew” already has its “modern” meaning of (a particular type of) enemy of Christ.
3) We Catholics are admittedly opposed to antisemitism, but that doesn’t mean we approve of Judaism.
4) the slogan “Jesus was a Jew” is used to deceive Christians and trick them into supporting Zionism.
Hello Jonathan,
We’re working with two different definitions of the word Jew. The fact that Jesus was an ethnic Jew is a fact which Jones admits. However, there is a group of people known as Jews who rejected Him. Jews today fall in this line of thinking.
1) True, the OT religion exists nowhere on this Earth has hasn’t for 2,000 years. What is known as Judaism is an imposter religion that doesn’t come from Moses but from Jochanen ben Zakkai as Jones points out.
2) Agreed
3) Agreed but try telling this to a Jew. Criticizing Judaism equals antisemitism these days.
4) Jesus was a Jews but you’re correct. This truth has been abused by “Christian” Zionists and by liberals who want “dialogue” with the Jews. It’s true that Jesus was a Jew but any truth can be abused.
God bless,
Allan
Anti-semitism is too general a catchall. Most American Jews lean heavily liberal – abortion, homosexuality, disbelief in God, disregarding Torah, the lot… Only the Orthodox buck the trend.
Put it this way, Pamela Geller is an example of a very strongly pro-Israel, pro-Jew personality. She often uses the anti-semitism card against opponents of Israel.
Yet she can crititicize George Soros, who is Jewish.
By the definition of absolutists, that makes Pamela Geller… An anti-semite too?
