I never did like The God Delusion, in fact I didn’t finish because it was such a bad book, and I finish the vast majority of books that I start. It’s sitting on one of my bookshelves collecting dust. I keep telling myself that I’ll finish it one day but it’s getting less and less likely.
The whole New Atheist movement essentially made use of all the anger against Islam from 9/11 and used it as an opportunity to attack Christianity. Yes, it was technically against all religion but let’s face it, these books weren’t being written in Morocco, Turkey, or Iran. The logic(or lack of it) was essentially this: Islam did 9/11 therefore Islam is bad, Islam is a religion therefore religion is bad, Christianity is a religion therefore Christianity is bad, therefore Christianity must be fought. It all started with 9/11. Sam Harris in the acknowledgement section of his book The End of Faith talked about how he started to write it on September 12, 2001. Richard Dawkins played a huge role in this movement by publishing his book, speaking at conventions, promoting fake science and promoting atheism over all religion, mainly Christianity.
Now, regarding the infamous Tweet, everyone saying that Dawkins is a racist is absurd. I prefer the sounds of church bells over Islamic prayers and I’m not racist. It’s also probably because of my cultural upbringing. I should also point out that Islam isn’t a race but I think the people calling Dawkins racist don’t care about logic.
A few months ago Dawkins lamented the loss of Christianity in the West and the rise of Islam. He didn’t use those exact words but it’s essentially what he meant. Here’s the Tweet.
The benign Christianity of England is about to be stomped out by Islam and poor old Richard Dawkins isn’t too happy. This is the same person who has spent decades attacking Christianity. Yes, he’s attacked all religions but in the West, Christianity took most of his assault. Now he’s worried that the fruits of his(and many of his colleagues) labor will have some unpleasant results. Well, perhaps Dawkins and his crew should have assessed the situation instead of acting on his emotional hatred of religion. Douglas Murray is starting to make the same observations. Both of these men were extremely anti-Christian a decade ago but now they’ve changed their tune. They’re not exactly enjoying the England that they helped create.
So while it’s absurd to call Richard Dawkins racist, it’s perfectly appropriate to call him a fraud. In fact, he’s a huge fraud. He’s as big a fraud as the theory of evolution that he promotes and for some odd reason never debates. I actually know the reason and it’s because I honestly think that deep down even he knows it’s fake. In fact, it’s as fake as Richard Dawkins.
“The benign Christianity of England is about to be stomped out by Islam and poor old Richard Dawkins isn’t too happy.”
We are not going to be stomped out by Islam. Trust me. I am sure of it. We have resisted dungeon, fire and sword and will resist this influx of ignorance and barbarism too. All that I fear is indifference, yet Islam is more prone to that than are us natives because they value material wealth and the trappings of success more that we do.
It will take a while to overcome them though, as they keep being re-inforced by new recruits from their homelands.
Nevertheless Richard Dawkins has good reason to regret his attack upon Christianity – because he should have no satisfactory reason to be comfortable with its rival (which cannot survive the modern world, should our politicians but dare to cut off the cousin-marriages that import ignorant people trapped by Islam into “Anglo-Saxon” societies).
Richard Dawkins is no philosopher, nor do I think he is an intellectual of any merit, but a deeply prejudiced, snobbish, arrogant man. The sort of fellow who gives Englishmen a bad name.
He is sitting atop a fair and just society that was established on Christian principles yet seeks to undermine it.
I agree that he is a fraud. He does not have intellectual integrity or weight – he is just a highly paid academic with a posh voice and tons of prejudice.
Hi Christopher,
All I can say to your comment is Amen!
God Bless,
Allan
