Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away: as it hath pleased the Lord so is it done: blessed be the name of the Lord.
– Job 1:21
Unless you’ve just come out of a coma you’ll know that the entire planet is under quarantine because of the infamous and improperly named coronavirus. Hundreds of people are dying every day in Italy and all over the world. Borders are closed and people have been told to minimize contact with other people. I basically stay indoors all day. I only leave when I go on walks or get groceries. The former is to keep me sane. It’ll be pretty hard since we don’t have Church on Sunday.
I’ve decided to start a series on YouTube called Quarantine Apologetics. Everyone is at home and needs things to do. I’m going to be providing some apologetics and wisdom to help the average person. I recommend subscribing to my YouTube Channel. I will be posting multiple episodes per week. Catholic Youtube should be a priority for all Catholics during this pandemic.
I already have the first two episodes up. In the first video I emphasize the fact that in America and English speaking Canada, Catholics are 20 – 25% of the population but in reality it’s 3 – 4% because so few of us go to Church. Churches are closed right now but when they reopen we should all invite our fellow lapsed Catholics back to Church. It’s an easy way to grow our numbers. It’s not like we’re converting an Evangelical and have to explain that we don’t worship the Virgin Mary. Anyone can do this.
The second video is me telling a story of how I stood firm against a corrupt political establishment and how we all should have the courage to do the same thing. Certainly politicians think that they can take Catholic votes for granted and one of them I talk about in the video.
In addition to all of this, we need to be reading the Bible, praying the rosary, reading books by and about the saints, and the great theologians of the Church. Is this coronavirus a judgement from God? I can’t say at this point. I was reading the book of Job recently. Maybe that’s something that we should all do. Physical illness was one of many things that Job had to endure. Maybe the answer is in that book; or maybe it isn’t. Either way, this period should be used to improve your spiritual life. Without the sacraments we have a number of avenues at our disposal. Subscribe to my YouTube channel for Quarantine Apologetics. Enjoy the show and stay healthy!
