Faith and Film

Being an honest religious person means that you can criticize your own side.  Anyone who knows me in my personal life or even solely through this blog knows that I like film.  As a person of faith, I want to admit that faith based films in recent years have been absolutely terrible.  It’s gotten to the point that good faith based films are not even associated with the Christian film industry such as Silence or Hacksaw Ridge.

How Not to Talk to a Muslim

This frustrates me to no end

St. Nicholas of Myra – A Catholic Saint born in modern day Turkey

Recently a relative of mine was in Istanbul, Turkey for vacation.  Despite having a devout Muslim leader, Turkey is known to be a less religious and more liberal Muslim country.  This is especially true of the city of Istanbul which is probably the least religious city in Turkey.  Regardless, we can reasonably say that the people of Istanbul are not Christian.  Despite once being the “New Rome” and holding the second most authoritative bishopric in Christendom after Rome, modern Istanbul is not a Christian city in the least.

The Case for Christ

A Review

Happy Easter to all!  Christ our Lord is risen today!  The resurrection of Jesus Christ is something that is the topic of the recent Pure Flix movie The Case for Christ.  It’s the story of former atheist Lee Strobel and his investigation into the death and resurrection of Jesus.  It’s based of his book The Case for Christ.  This book was the second apologetics book that I’ve ever read after Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and it helped start me on my apologetics journey.  I actually got the book free when the Evangelical group Campus Crusade for Christ was handing them out for free during my University days.

Altering Your Mind to Think Like a Christian

The sunset in my hometown with the Bow River and mountain range in the background.

In Western society, we are brainwashed.  We are taught that good is evil and evil is good.  Over the last three years, I have spent long hours studying and realizing that the post-enlightenment Western world is demonic.  I now oppose modern Western values with all my soul.

Dr. Gavin Ashenden, the Church of England, and Equality

Pope Pius X clearly articulated in his Pontificate in the early 1900’s that modernism was the greatest heresy.  He was correct, essentially because modernism is a war on objective truth.  While some religions have been affected more than others, every religion has been effected.  One of the worst is the Church of England.  This has caused Senior Anglican Clergyman Gavin Ashenden to leave this group.

Silence, Michael Coren, and Trampling on the Fumie

The reason that I didn’t do a review of the movie Silence several months ago, is because that movie is very disturbing.  It haunted me for quite a while.  I probably should have known this since I read the book several years ago.

Did Peter know Greek?

Refuting Bart Ehrman

Forged…Boo

Bart Ehrman has really been helping the enemies of God. He has quite a corpus of material against Christian orthodoxy. Atheists and Muslims are more than eager to purchase his books and accept his conclusions; often uncritically. Sadly, there is nothing that we can do about this except to learn to respond to these criticisms.

The False God of Lauren Southern

Today Canadian conservative pundit Lauren Southern posted a video which basically says that Muslims are invading our culture. She said that they have high fertility rates and are threatening our precious Western values which no one is standing up for any longer.  I’m embarrassed to say that when I was her age, I thought in this ridiculous manner as well.

A Brief Bio

I grew up in the northern prairies in Canada where it’s very cold and barren. Both of my parents grew up on farms but I was born in the city. I grew up going to the Catholic Church but it didn’t really mean anything at the time. I found it quite boring but made sure never to miss a Sunday. My schooling was done in French. I even knew the Our Father and the Hail Mary in French before I knew them in English.

Responding to Sam Shamoun, Brittany Gefroh, and justforcatholics.org

Apparently some Catholics live in South East Saskatchewan.

A little over two weeks ago, I posted a response to Matt Slick on how the Catholic Church has viewed the Apocrypha.  Protestant Apologist Sam Shamoun posted it on his Facebook page and asked how his followers would respond to the three questions that I posed to Matt Slick.
