Identitarianism Won’t Save Europe

Above is an interview of Martin Sellner, who is a leading Identitarian in Europe.  What is the goal of the Identitarian movement?  To save Europe from Islam of course.  In this interview we find some disturbing things.  It’s all about ethnicity.  It doesn’t matter if you’re Christian, atheist, neo-pagan, socialist, or capitalist.  It’s all about being European and non-Islamic.  That’s essentially what it is.

This movement is full of young, articulate and attractive people.  Joining this movement can be very tempting to a young European who doesn’t like Islam.  However, this movement won’t win.  It may gain a few momentary victories here and there but it will ultimately lose in the long run because it’s based on a lie.

Europe was never great because it was European.  Europe was great because it was Christendom.  If we go back 2500 years, apart from Greece, Europe was just swamps and barbarians.  When Europe became Christendom we saw cathedrals, castles, beautiful art and architectural wonders.  Abandoning Christianity ruined Europe.  First the reformation splintered the unity that was held prior to Luther, then eventually came the French revolution then socialism.  Socialism caused chaos in Eastern Europe and in Germany bringing those countries to near collapse.

A while ago, I had a Spanish roommate.  He was from the city of Malaga in Andalusia.  I never talked about religion with him since I assumed that he was a just an average secular European.  The day before he moved back to Spain, he asked if I was Catholic.  To be honest, it’s kind of hard not to figure that out if you live with me for several months.  He then told me that in Malaga and the other cities in Andalusia they have great Easter processions and the whole town gets involved.  The mayor gets involved and even the local military leaders participate.  He told me that he and his girlfriend always go to watch them.  He then showed me on Youtube.  I was so impressed when I saw it.  He told me that they don’t do this outside of Andalusia.  Here is the video that he showed me:

Not all of Spain is like this.  Apparently cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia are completely secular.  They have no more Catholicism in them than Paris.  Recently a friend of mine went to Andalusia.  He was there over Holy Week and saw the glorious processions held in cities like Malaga, Seville, Grenada, and Cordoba.  He even recorded them on his iphone and showed them to us after Church.  He also told us about all of the Catholicism in Andalusia.  Here’s a picture that he took in the Cordoba Cathedral.  It shows the Muslims of Cordoba presenting the keys of the city to the Spanish Monarch who had just re-conquered it.  Here it is:

This is the picture that he sent me.  Only this kind of Europe will defeat Islam.  I invite every Identitarian to renounce this movement and go with what has a proven track record.  Only Catholicism can save Europe.  Identitarianism will only bring it to further ruin.

  1. You could also link the interview where Sellner speaks to Lauren Southern and exposes how the Catholic solution doesn’t even enter into his consciousness. He speaks of the philosophical malaise of the modern European and does not for a moment suggest anything that would speak to the Catholic understanding of man. He either has no clue about what the Catholic Church has to offer or he purposefully ignores it. I hope he is just highly misinformed. But how can he have studied Philosophy and ignored Catholic philosophers?

    • Hi Maria,

I agree with you. If he was a true Catholic he’d be promoting Catholic political philosophers such as Louis de Bonald, Renee de Chateaubriand, Joseph de Maistre, Juan Donoso Cortes and the others. Does he even know who they are? I know that Lauren Southern probably doesn’t.

Here’s the video that you talked about so people can see it:

      • So I asked my mom to watch the Lauren Southern video and she said that Martin only spoke truth and that he referred to returning to cultural heritage, which in such a quick interview would be enough as any mention of religious values would be misunderstood without proper context.

Perhaps I am wrong in my quick judgment of Sellner. I would prefer to be wrong.

I would not use the Shoebat video as proof that Martin is mistaken as Shoebat pushes at his points in an awkward fashion. Martin does say some odd things, but the interview was not a friendly one. I wonder why Martin continued as long as he did.

          • Hi Maria,

Regardless of what some of our Bishops and leaders say, it doesn’t mean that we can endorse the Identitarian movement. For analogy purposes, if a Bishop is promoting Arianism, it doesn’t mean that we can endorse Modalism. They are both errors.

            God Bless,

            Allan
