The Old Testament And Modernism
by
In a previous post, I talked about how reading scripture was an antidote to modernism. In that post, I focused on the New Testament but the Old Testament is full of gems as well. The book of Ezechiel is a great example. When one reads the first 15 chapters of Ezechiel, the idea that God is angry becomes very apparent. In Chapter 16 we read:
Eternal Security In The Dock

A popular doctrine in Protestantism is Eternal Security, sometimes referred to as Perseverance of the Saints. Perseverance of the Saints represents the P in TULIP, which Calvinists believe in. If one looked at the world between 1900 and 1950 you would see significant differences. In 1900, the Tsar was in power in Russia, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was still alive in Southern Europe, and the Ottoman Empire still existed though it was well past its glory days. By the year 1950, Communists ruled Russia, the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empire no longer existed and a Jewish State existed in the middle East. Russia’s communist errors had spread to most of Eastern Europe, China, and elsewhere. Interestingly enough, only two superpowers existed and both wanted to spread their vision for humanity. Those nations were Russia and America. Many other changes could be mentioned.
