The Biggest Secret of the Year

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmX-Bje1eg

It’s been an interesting year with this website.  I’ve got to meet quite a few new people in both the apologetics community and Catholic community in general.  The Lord has truly blessed me.  Before this year, I was only moderately familiar with the Quran.  Having read it multiple times this year, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge.

Surah 2:62 vs. Surah 3:85

The Next Quran translation I’ll be reading

In the Bible we have multiple authors.  For example, we have a different author for each Gospel narrative.  We have different authors for the historical and prophetic books of the Old Testament as well.  Sometimes when something seems to be contradictory, usually the author is just trying to emphasize something where another author is not.  The problem is solved for us.

St. Clement of Rome Believed Scripture Was Inspired by God

My Icon of St. Clement of Rome purchased at Kiev Perchersk Lavra

But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.

– John 14:26

But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you.

– John 16:13

From these two statements we can see that our Lord is telling the disciples that the Holy Spirit will teach them the truth.  What exactly would the Holy Ghost give the Church?  St. Paul gives us a hint in his second epistle to Timothy.

How Early is the Muhammadim Argument?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqlP9XxluOo&t=1s

Anyone who has been following this website knows about my favorite argument that Muslims use in favor or Muhammad.  I’m of course talking about Song of Solomon 5:16.  This is the argument that states that there is a possible phonetic parallel between a Hebrew word and with Muhammad’s name.  The context of Song of Solomon has absolutely nothing to do with this but let’s look beyond that for a moment.

The Russian Option

Pope Francis And Patriarch Kirill

As many of my readers know, I was in the Ukraine in August.  I’m involved a lot with the Eastern European community in my city.  Two Sundays ago I went to a going away party for the local Russian Orthodox priest.  He’s moving back home to be with his parents.  I’m not Orthodox but I’ve learned a lot from this man.

Fr. Richard Munkelt vs. Rod Dreher

Rod Dreher

Rod Dreher is an ex-Catholic who has converted to the Orthodox Church.  He seems to have a love-hate relationship with the Church.  He acts like our friend, but is often condescending and nasty.  I think he let up for a brief period of time so that he could market The Benedict Option to us.  Regardless of this, what has happened in the recent war of words have highlighted the flaw in Traditional Catholic circles.

Adnan Rashid, Matthew Vines, and the Crucifixion

The Crucifixion Of Our Lord Jesus Christ

I didn’t want to do a review of the debate between Adnan Rashid and Samuel Green on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ but this general overview will cover a lot of material in that debate.  The crucifixion has always been a sticky point for Muslims.  The Quran denies it but only in one place.  There are multiple first century sources of the crucifixion of Jesus but Muslims go for the one mysterious statement in the Quran six centuries after the event.

The Islamic Love Affair With Basilides

Recently Muslim apologist Adnan Rashid debated Samuel Green on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  My goal is not to review the debate but instead to point out an argument that the Muslims need to stop using for their own sake.  They’ve been using this argument uncritically and I’m going to show why it has to be retired.

Nicene Trinitarianism and Islamic Apologetics

St. Athanasius – Defender Of The Incarnation

I’ve noticed a new trend in Islamic apologetics.  It’s clever, I’ll admit that.  I believe it started with Adnan Rashid in a debate that he had with James White a few years ago.  I could be wrong about that but regardless of the origins, it’s the argument that matters.  This is applied to both the Scripture and the Church fathers.  I want to deal with the Church fathers specifically.

When a Christian Reads the Quran For the First Time

My First Quran

As a Christian apologist, I’ve read the Quran numerous times.  I’ve made a goal to know it better than most Muslims.  I recently had a religious discussion with a friend of mine from Gaza.  When we were done he said that I knew the Quran better than most Muslims.  I also had the privilege of explaining to him where Rabbinic Judaism comes from as he’s a Palestinian and has felt the wrath of Israeli ethnic cleansing.
