About Me

I was born and raised in Western Canada and was raised in the Catholic Church.  In the last few years I have been researching apologetics and church history.  The purpose of this website is to share my accumulated knowledge.

    • Hello Ehteshaam,

      Thank you for commenting. I’m familiar with your work and YouTube channel. I’ve seen your debates with James White and Mary Jo Sharp. White has actually gone after me as well.

      Feel free to comment more on this website as I welcome respectful dialogue. All I ask is that in the future, you comment on posts that are relevant to the topic. There are a lot of posts on Ehrman.

      I will delete this comment and yours in the About Me section in a week or two so hopefully you get a chance to see it.

      God bless,

      Allan

      • Allan, I humbly recommend you checking this video by Ehteshaam Gulam:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m38cEp–Wfk
        The real colors of Gulam are all over the place- from “this is the true silliness of Christianity” to “I think Christianity is complete b******t”. As St. Isaiah said:
        Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
        Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
        Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

        May God help us.

        • Hello Orangehunter,

          I’m well aware of the content produced by Gulam. I’m aware that he selectively quote mines from pseudo scholars like Robert M Price and Richard Carrier. Sometime I’d like to sit down and have a coffee with him, though I think the same thing about every Islamic apologist.

          Did you know that Robert Spencer briefly mentions him in his book Did Muhammad Exist? That certainly caught me by surprise.

          God bless,

          Allan

          • I wouldn’t call Price and Carrier pseudo-scholars. They’re on the margins, no doubt, but their works and ideas will become more and more popular. When Thomas Thompson’s “The Historicity of the Patriarchal Narratives” was published in 1974, it was not wel received at first. Now its thesis is the dominant view of secular and liberal biblical scholarship (I do make a distinction between “secular” and “liberal”). When I read Carrier’s “Not The Impossible Faith”, I was shocked- I just couldn’t believe that I agree with Carrier on 80% of his arguments. “Proving History” and “On The Historicity Of Jesus” are really hard-hitting pieces of scholarship- just read them beside Ehrman’s “Did Jesus Exist” and you’ll know what I’m talking about. As for Robert Price, he’s the only secular scholar that is consistent on the authorship of the Pauline epistles- he claims they are all forgeries. Don’t get me wrong, I reject mythicism wholeheartedly and I don’t buy many of mythicists’ arguments. I just think that the rise of myhicism will actually benefit Christians- it will make secular/liberal biblical scholarship useless for dawamongers and will totally discredit that scholarship in the eyes of the Protestants. The latter will eventually start realizing that going back to Church tradition is the best way of keeping their faith in Christ vital.

            “Did you know that Robert Spencer briefly mentions him in his book Did Muhammad Exist?”- I do, Gulam is mentioned by an illustration of his inconsistency, which is no surprise. This, along with his insolent tone of arguing, makes him comparable to Ijaz Ahmad.

            May God help us all.

          • Hello Orangehunter,

            You’ve certainly read a lot of those books. I’ve only read a bit as I usually read the scholarship that Muslims like to read such as Bart Ehrman and Raymond Brown.

            ” I just think that the rise of myhicism will actually benefit Christians- it will make secular/liberal biblical scholarship useless for dawamongers and will totally discredit that scholarship in the eyes of the Protestants. Very interesting. I’ve never thought of that one before.

            God bless,

            Allan

  1. Hi Alan. I just sent Tovia Singer the video clip of Dr. Michael Brown commenting about debate with Tovia Singer, requesting he contact Michael to arrange for another debate, and I posted it on face book. I first saw you comment re: Tovia commenting on Is.9:6. on ‘Quora.’ Thank you for ‘jumping into the ‘fire’! I think I’ll request your subscription. Good stuff. There are some comments on ‘Quora’ I am unqualified to answer. Thank you for ‘sticking your nose in there. I might hang in there for awhile. I’m a bit of a ‘provocateur,’ myself, without the education. (amateur) I tried sending you an email, but got ‘no results found’
